Hussein Abdel Tenywa’s Journey

Hussein grew up in an extended family with a very humble background in Uganda. Coming from a large family with many children from different mothers, Hussein and his siblings often faced financial challenges. Despite these difficulties, their father, with the help of the Almighty God, always managed to provide the basics needed for their education and daily life.

At the tender age of 14, due to the need for basic necessities such as good clothes and a school bag, Hussein was compelled to find a part-time job. By God’s grace, he secured a job in one of the factories in Jinja, which manufactures plastics. He balanced his studies with work, spending his school holidays working in the factory. This job significantly boosted his ability to meet his needs, allowing him to acquire everything he needed at that time.

During his last three semesters at Makerere University, Hussein struggled with tuition fees and almost had to take a “dead year.” However, with perseverance and faith, he managed to overcome this obstacle and complete his education.

These experiences shaped Hussein’s understanding of the hardships many people face. They also ignited a deep desire within him to become a beacon of hope for others. He envisioned a future where he could extend a helping hand to those in need, providing support and opportunities to the elderly and young people who, like him, struggled to achieve their dreams. This vision led to the creation of the Apple Hearts Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering mindset change, bridging the generational gap, and creating life-changing stories.
